Doing The Next Right Thing
How to get unstuck
How easy it is to make grand plans for my future.
To set goals for various things in my life.
Resolutions to write more. To get healthier.
I'm so enthusiastic about all I want to achieve.
Easier still to get stuck.
To give up because I can't seem to stick to these plans.
A lack of self-discipline. Things going awry.
Lots of distractions.
There go my goals, my plans, my enthusiasm.
Self-doubt (self-loathing even) creep in.
Guilt shows its head.
I throw in the towel.
And then come these words - a reminder from things I’ve read and written about:
Just do the next right thing.
Doing The Next Right Thing
I’ve done this before and it worked. But sometimes I forget. So today, I’m reminding you, dear reader but mostly myself.
No matter where you find yourself—whether you’re trying to break free from a cycle of defeat, seeking inner peace, striving for success in your career, fighting procrastination, or battling addiction of some sort — this powerful principle can be a guide: Just do the next right thing.
When you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, give your attention to that one action. Just keep taking the next right step, and you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can move forward. Don’t worry about what the future holds—next week, next month, or even next year. Just focus on the present and the next little step. By doing so, you’ll gradually break free from the thoughts and habits that are holding you back. You can’t think, wish, or hope your way out of these patterns—you have to act, one moment at a time.
Step by step, as you focus on the next right thing, you’ll move from confusion to clarity, from frustration to understanding, from despair to hope. In doing so, you’ll uncover your true self, transitioning from darkness into light.
Are you struggling with self-discipline as I am? Do you think this might work for you?

Needed this push right now! Thank you Corinne. "Bit by bit fills the bowl."
That makes sense. Do the next right thing instead of moaning about things you have done in the past and can't change. I am going to write it on my board to remind myself this week.
