Hello reader,
I’m sitting here enjoying the first rain that our area has had this season and keeping my promise of sending this out every Tuesday.
I’ve just finished reading "Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals" by Oliver Burkeman. It took me a while to finish it, but it really changed the way I think about time.
The underlying concept of the book is that we have on average approximately 4000 weeks on Earth. That would put the average age at 76-77. Which means I have roughly 18 years more to live! ;)
Moving beyond this morbid thought process, Burkeman really makes us think about how we spend our time - live with purpose, focus on what matters, and enjoy the journey instead of stressing about being productive and efficient.
Here are the 10 takeaways I got from Four Thousand Weeks:
Limited Time: I only have about 936 weeks in my life, so I need to make them count.
Forget Perfection: I can't do everything perfectly, and that's okay. Just getting things done is better.
Live Now: I need to focus on the present instead of always worrying about the future.
Depth Over Breadth: It's better to invest in deep relationships and meaningful work rather than spreading myself too thin.
Enjoy the Process: I should find joy in what I'm doing, not just in the end result.
Time as a Resource: Instead of trying to control time, I should use it wisely.
Embrace Uncertainty: I can't control everything, and that's part of life.
Learn to Say No: I need to say no to things that aren't important so I can focus on what is.
Small Steps: Making small, consistent improvements works better than big changes.
Practice Gratitude: Being thankful for what I have now makes me happier overall.
Overall, I learned to live more intentionally, focus on what matters, and enjoy the journey.

Have you read the book? It’s not the easiest of reads, but you can percolate some good stuff from it, if you read it through.
Just thought I’d share my writing plan for the next few months with you, so you’ll know where you can find me! :)

I read this book a couple of years ago & really enjoyed it. There’s some interesting pointers on how best to use our brief time here on earth.
Sounds like a good read! Thanks for sharing.
